    North Thompson River
    As its name suggests, the North Thompson River is the northern arm of the Thompson River and originates near Valemount, BC. The beautiful blue-green river runs south along Highway 5 to Kamloops where it joins the southern arm to form the main Thompson River, which eventually feeds into the Fraser River in southern BC.

    Walloper Lake Provincial Park
    Walloper Lake Provincial Park is located just off the Coquihalla Highway, 37 km (23 mi) outside of Kamloops. The lake itself is small but does attract anglers, canoeists and kayakers. The park is day-use only and no overnight camping is permitted.

    Just north of Kamloops lies excellent canoing, swimming, kayaking, and fishing on Caverhill Lake.

    Bonaparte Lake
    This lake is hailed by local outdoors men as a body of water offering splendid views of the surrounding area as well as kayaking, and canoing opportunities. A fishing trip to this area will assure any sports person a great time.

    South Thompson River
    The South Thompson River is the southern arm of the Thompson River and originates at Little Shuswap Lake between the towns of Revelstoke and Salmon Arm. A relatively slow-moving body of water, the South Thompson River is popular for fishing and floating and joins the northern arm in Kamloops to form the main Thompson River.

    Thompson River
    The Thompson River, named after the Northwest Trading Company's explorer and topographer David Thompson, is formed at Kamloops by the joining of the South and North Thompson River branches. It flows west and south to Lytton where it feeds the Fraser River of southern BC. Known for its high water, the Thompson River is hugely popular for sport fishing and white water rafting.

    Kamloops Lake
    Kamloops Lake stretches from Kamloops to Savona and is 1.6 km (1 mi) wide and 29 km (18 mi) long. Fed by the South and North Thompson Rivers, the lake is popular in summer for fishing, swimming and boating. A lake shore park features a boat launch and wharf while visitors can stay at either the Lakeside Country Inn or camp at the provincial park.

    McConnell Lake Provincial Park
    McConnell Lake is located 35 km (22 mi) from Kamloops and offers excellent opportunities to catch rainbow trout. Aside from fishing, visitors can hike the park's primitive trail, canoe or kayak on the lake's surface or photograph the wildlife.

    Badger Lake is situated close to Kamloops. The water is refreshing, the fish are tasty, and there are plenty of camping locations dug in alongside the shores of this serene British Columbian lake.

    Adams Lake
